Ruby on Rails Development

Shine Technologies has been developing commercially in Ruby on Rails since January 2007. Based on our experiences we believe Ruby on Rails has a place in the commercial landscape. In particular we believe Rails is a great solution for web-based greenfields development requiring an Agile approach.

At Shine we do not promote technology for technology sake, so our decision to invest in Ruby on Rails was based on whether it could deliver real value to our clients. Our experience tells us that in certain situations that the benefits are significant.

In addition, Shine will not promote services in the market if we don't have the required skills to back that up. In this case we have invested in developing real experience for a year prior to going to the market. We will continue to develop and evolve our skills - as Rails itself continues to evolve.

There are other scenarios where Rails can also provide significant cost savings, and we are taking a real interest in JRuby as a means to bring both the rapid development of Rails and the proven integration, stability and scalability of Java application servers.
